Planes, Trains, Taxis and lots of Patience!

After many months of preparing for this adventure we now are in route to Granada, Spain from San Francisco, Ca.  This is our first blog and I'm going to try and take a dear friend's advice and be "raw" in our posts.  Apparently everyone will be more interested in following our adventure without it being a literary masterpiece.  We left Truckee, Ca the afternoon of the 23 of Aug. and flew out the morning of the 24th.  Our entire trip lasted some 38 hours including transport to San Fran., lay over in Atlanta, 9 hr. flight to Madrid, insane taxi ride to Atocha train station in Madrid (which Owen swore we were going to experience our first crash), 5 hours of half asleep lay over in Atocha train station, another 5 hr. train ride through the plains of Spain south to the hills of Granada, final Taxi ride to the Plaza Nueva in Granada and our ultimate climb up a steep hill and many cobblestone steps, to our flat above the square.  Mind you, we have 5 pieces of luggage to get us through this year of life and we were all walking zombies at this point.  Even though the boys were amazing, I wondered if traveling this way with them was more challenging than giving birth to them.
We arrived at our sanctuary - a small piece of heaven with lavender and bougainvillea surrounding the entryway,  a stone's throw from the 8th century Moorish fortress, La Alhambra.  The wonderful owners Ricardo and Esperanza greeted us with chocolate caliente for the boys and a baguette.  We fell asleep to the sound of church bells chiming every quarter hour and slept for the next 14 hours straight.  Here are some of the quotes from the boys that made me laugh and almost cry at times during this move:
"Can we go home now?"
"I feel like I'm around a bunch of aliens.  Does anyone speak English?"
"Are we in America?"
"Spain looks just like Reno!"
"You just LOVE forcing me out of my comfort zone, don't you, mom?"
